Upstate red clay is the single most common flooring complaint we hear in Greenville, and it behaves differently from ordinary dirt — it stains grout, it bonds to carpet fibre, and scrubbing it while wet spreads it. Our approach is to lift the dry residue first with a vacuum that has real suction at the edge of the brush, then treat what remains with a neutral-pH cleaner instead of a general-purpose spray, which can set the iron oxide into light grout. Entry mats, and asking family to leave shoes at the door during wet weeks, will do more than any product we can bring.
