We at Castle Keepers House Cleaning primarily use Clorox Green Works products or our cleaning chemicals. Most people hear “Clorox” immediately think of the overwhelming scent and dangerous cleaning power of bleach, but the Clorox company developed the Green Works line specifically as an answer to the consumer interest in more natural products.
Made with biodegradable cleaning ingredients such as coconuts, essential oils, and corn, the Green Works products received Green Seal certification, only awarded to products that have less impact on the environment and work well. As greenseal.org explains, “Green Seal provides science-based environmental certification standards that are credible, transparent and essential to helping manufacturers, purchasers and consumers make responsible choices that positively impact business behavior and improve quality of life. Thousands of products and services in hundreds of categories have been certified to meet Green Seal standards. Green Seal provides public education and guidance for creating a more sustainable world.”
The U.S. EPA’s Safer Choice Program, which partners with companies like Clorox to make safer products for consumers, workers, and the environment, recognized the Green Works brand as a safe, natural product. Also, we purchase our products concentrated and use a dilution system, so the process from manufacture to transportation to use has a smaller carbon footprint than buying products off the shelves.
According to the National Safety Foundation, ”The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Safer Choice program (formerly known as Design for the Environment) recognizes products that meet stringent ingredient- and product-level criteria. Safer Choice products do not contain known carcinogens, reproductive or developmental toxicants – and all components are reviewed against Safer Choice criteria.
