We’ve previously written about our use of the Activeion Pro as one of our chemical-free cleaning products and have received some questions about how the product works.
What’s the story behind a bottle filled with tap water?
· The technology is call “water electrolysis,” which activates ordinary tap water and turns it into a safe, effective general purpose cleaner.
· The technology isn’t new. It’s been around for years and already is used for cleaning in the food industry as well as industrial manufacturing (computer chips) and medical device manufacturing.
· The Activeion doesn’t use any soap, detergent or chemicals, so it’s safe to use and good for the environment. And, if you’re a business working toward a green building certification, such as Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, you can score some points by using this kind of cleaning tool.
Chemical cleaners vs. Activeion
· A chemical applies a positive or negative charge to break down dirt, loosening it from the surface so it can be easily wiped away.
· The Activeion Pro activates tap water to achieve the same result. The battery in the bottle applies a slight electrical charge to the tap water, and – put on science hat here – the charged water passes through an ion exchange membrane, creating an oxygen-rich mixture of positive and negative nano-bubbles. The activated water attracts the dirt and lifts it from the surface so it can be easily wiped away, just as the chemical cleaner does.
Advantages of the Activeion Pro:
· Performs as well as or better than other general purpose cleaners on the market today.
· No dangerous, expensive chemicals.
· No residue. Chemical-based cleaners include a number of ingredients that are left behind and eventually end up attracting dirt.
· No spotting or streaking (super oxygenated nano-bubbles speed the evaporation process).
· Can be used on hard (marble, granite, wood) and soft surfaces (carpets, clothing).
· No dwell time. The activated water charge from the Activeion lasts 30-45 seconds and should be wiped away within that time.
· pH neutral.
· True smell of clean (absence of scent).
Disadvantages of the Activeion Pro:
· Not a heavy-duty degreaser – performs as well as or better than a general purpose cleaner, but Activeion Pro is not a miracle worker. Dirt comes off as it goes on – over time. It may be necessary to clean the surface more than once, just like with other general purpose cleaners.
· Some people prefer a pleasant scent to remain after cleaning, but really that is not the true smell of clean, which is absence of scent – both good and bad).
